Author to discuss implications of community

Author Casey Plett will discuss her essay On Community as part of the speaker series in the course “Windsor’s Literary Culture” on Thursday, Nov. 9.

A must-read for Windsor’s transgender community, the essay tells of Windsor’s literary scene and touches on growing up in a Mennonite community. It was launched last week at Biblioasis, a local bookstore and Plett’s publisher.

Plett is best known for her novel Little Fish and her Scotiabank Giller Prize-nominated short story collection, A Dream of a Woman. She has written for such publications as the New York Times, The Globe and Mail, Harper’s Bazaar, and more. She is a winner of the Amazon First Novel Award, the Firecracker Award for Fiction, and a two-time winner of the Lambda Literary Award.

Her presentation, from 1 to 2:20 p.m. in room 53, Chrysler Hall South, is open to all members of the University of Windsor community.
