Campus groups interested in reaching out to the broader community should sign up to participate in Open Streets Windsor, Sunday, Sept. 17, says Mona Sleiman, event and community relations manager in the Office of the President.

The annual “paved park” festival closes an eight-kilometre route to vehicular traffic from Sandwich Towne to Ford City to allow citizens to walk, jog, or bicycle, enjoying healthy and fun civic activities along the way.

Hubs are designated for community partners to carry out free activities that promote health, physical activity, arts and culture, encouraging participation from people of all ages and abilities.

“There’s a hub directly adjacent to the campus on Riverside Drive by Assumption Park,” Sleiman says. “It makes for a perfect opportunity to reach members of the public, from toddlers to seniors.”

The University will provide participating groups with tables and chairs and a catered lunch sponsored by president Robert Gordon. The commitment is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., plus set-up and teardown times.
