UWindsor workshop to help Canadian clean energy developers and business join growing market

Renewable energy researchers at the University of Windsor will host a workshop on January 31 for Canadian clean energy developers and businesses interested in joining the worldwide surge in renewable power purchase agreements.

This three-hour event at the Chelsea Hotel in Toronto will:

  • explore critical elements of corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs);
  • identify mutually beneficial opportunities for Canadian clean energy developers and corporations; and
  • examine how Canadian utilities or system operators can benefit from corporate PPAs.

Corporate PPAs are long-term contracts under which a business purchases electricity directly from an energy generator. Businesses receive long-term financial certainty and reduce carbon and water footprints, while developers continue to fund projects as existing government contracts approach expiration.

Some of the largest businesses in the world — including Google, Amazon and General Motors — have realized significant economic and environmental benefits by partnering with renewable energy developers to bring new projects into the markets in which they operate. Find out how you can too at the Next Big Thing workshop. Event organizers and sponsors include UWindsor’s Environmental Energy Institute, the Turbulence and Energy Laboratory and the Faculty of Engineering.
