'Menaissance' a reaction to fear of lost masculinity, education researcher says

Concerns expressed by some commentators that feminism and queer politics is emasculating men and creating a new generation of sissies is resulting in a “Menaissance,” according to a Faculty of Education professor.

The phenomenon is characterized by males trying to recapture their lost masculinity, however the fear that men are becoming increasingly effeminate is nothing new, says Chris Greig.

Lancer men’s hockey players teaming up to pass on skills to local youths

A group of Lancer hockey players is getting a head start on their ambitions to be teachers and coaches, working with local youths to pass on the techniques they have developed in their athletic training.

Captain Brett Vandehogen, assistant captain DJ Turner, goaltender Parker Van Buskirk, and forwards Brett Oliphant and Spencer Pommells will mentor young boys and girls on the ice, working with teacher candidates under education professors Kara Smith and Chris Greig to experiment with ways of teaching hockey skills.
