Students, faculty, staff and retirees gathered outside Memorial Hall on Monday to recall those who fought and fell in freedom’s name.
The Remembrance Day ceremony included an address by UWindsor president Alan Wildeman; a reading of Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae's moving poem In Flanders Fields by drama professor Brian Taylor; a speech by constable Mike Akpata of the Windsor Police Service, a UWindsor grad (BA 1989) and veteran of the war in Afghanistan; playing of The Last Post and Reveille, singing of O Canada; laying of a wreath below the commemorative plaque in Memorial Hall; and the planting of Canadian flags on the lawn.
